A high level of energy efficiency is needed more than ever, especially in the residential sector, which accounts for about 25% of the nation's electricity usage and more than 10% of carbon emissions. Experience energy efficiency combined with thermal performance in action at the Bowie Site Tour.
Experience Passivhaus is a free dynamic gathering focused on endorsing design and construction practices to achieve energy-efficient buildings. Focussing on the benefits of utilising the Passivhaus principles that reduce our carbon footprint while enhancing quality of life.
Building Resilience - How can we make our homes more energy-efficient? We will look at the importance of achieving a closed thermal envelope to avoid mould and condensation risk
Health - Have you experienced drafts inside your homes? We will discover why sealing our buildings is important to achieve energy efficiency while keeping sufficient fresh air supplied when our windows and doors closed.
Comfort- Feeling too cold inside your house in winter? We will discuss how internal temperatures can be kept at around comfortable 20-25 deg Celsius without the need for heater or air conditioning
Quality Assurance - How can we make sure the theory is achieved in the praxis? We will undertake a practical blower door test to have you perceive drafts in action and understand their impact on your wellbeing and health. Once identified, rectification options are suggested.
