SYDNEY SPEAKERS

  • SPEAKER ONE: Michael Ward - High Performing Windows

Michael will touch on his personal experience moving from Auckland NZ (double glazed mandated market from 18 years ago) to colder Melbourne 6 years ago and first year living in existing homes using single glazed windows vs high performance Passivhaus grade windows; - the difference in thermal performance - the difference in comfort, health and wellbeing - the difference in energy running costs (heating and cooling) - the difference in acoustics.

  • SPEAKER TWO: Hamish Bresnahan & Shauna Trengrove - The Importance of Retrofitting

Hamish will provide new information on the retrophit project "1 Million Opportunities". This presentation developed in collaboration between ASA & Linden Thorley Architects focuses on why retrofitting our existing building stock is critical and how Passivhaus is a key component of achieving net-zero targets, with a case study on a typical Sydney brick small scale apartment building.

  • SPEAKER THREE: Stephane Blaise - Builders Perspective

Stephane will discuss the builders perspective in the 20 slides will explain why, mistakes that were made and how they achieved the Passivhaus Standard.

  • SPEAKER FOUR: Trent Clark - EnerPHit

Sydney for many reasons needs Passive House but with building constraints it needs EnerPHit more. Join Trent Clark as he discusses past, present and upcoming projects built to the EnerPHit standard.

  • SPEAKER FIVE: Andy Marlow - 20/20 Vision - A clear-eyed look at the Australian construction industry

Andy will walk us through with a clear-eyed look at the Australian construction industry, the interconnectedness of the system and its possibilities for positive change. We'll join the dots of some of the biggest challenges of our times and present the step changes we need to address them.

  • SPEAKER SIX: Darryn Parkinson - Prefab and Passivhaus

Darryn will go through why panelised prefabricated system is the only way forward. Why?

  1. Passive House is a building envelope first approach to building.
  2. Our panelised system is highly flexible and adaptable.
  3. The building is built twice, initially as a 3D model, or a digital twin, and finally on the site.
  4. Prefabricating a Passive House building ensures certainty of result every time.
  5. Speed of construction. Our panelised prefab system will slash many months from the build time for a project.
