DELIVERING RETROFIT FUNDING INNOVATION

The Global Energiesprong Alliance is a collective of organisations across the UK and Europe aiming to scale up the delivery of deep energy retrofits and new builds - using an outcome based methodology and performance guarantees.

Homes are fully insulated using offsite manufactured wall and roof panels in conjunction with pre-assembled 'energy pods' - creating warmer, more desirable places to live that are financed by energy and maintenance savings.

In the UK in the case of housing associations, tenants pay the housing association a 'comfort plan' (like an energy service plan) – the remaining energy bill and comfort plan combined are either the same or less than the bills before the retrofit, with much improved comfort levels for residents.

The housing association can use this new income stream to partly fund the renovation works. Typically, legislation needs to be amended to allow such a conversion of the monthly energy bill into a monthly energy service fee for the housing association.
