Event Details

In this webinar, Joel Seagren and Cameron Munro will discuss the options for rangehoods in residential projects, both recirculating and externally venting, and their relative costs and benefits. They will also present air quality data from fieldwork studies in completed residential projects to demonstrate the impact on indoor air quality.

This data will:

  • explore the impact of rangehood configuration, extraction flow rate and cooking temperature on indoor air quality.
  • will provide insight into the influence each parameter has on air quality and suggestions will be offered as to mitigations which maximise air quality while also achieving Passivhaus performance at reasonable cost.

Join us for a one-hour session with Joel Seagren, a mechanical engineer specializing in intelligent ventilation solutions at Fantech, and Cameron Munro, an aerospace engineer with a PhD focused on transport modeling. Joel is passionate about creating energy-efficient spaces with high indoor air quality, while Cameron applies analytical rigor and best practices to designing healthy, comfortable, and sustainable homes.

Key learning outcomes

  • Understand the advantages and disadvantages of rangehood configuration options in Passivhaus construction
  • Understanding the impact kitchen cooking has on indoor air quality
  • Understand how a clients chosen rangehood strategy impacts PHPP heating & cooling demand.
  • Quantify the performance of several different rangehood configurations using a small sample of collected IAQ data
  • Understand the NCC2022 compliance requirements for recirculating rangehoods
